For years Google has been telling business owners and webmasters to focus optimize their sites for users (humans), not search engines. Not everyone has listened. Those that have just got rewarded -- big time.
On April 21, 2015, Google announced that mobile-friendly websites would be given a rankings boost in the mobile search results. Said another way, if your website is not mobile-friendly, you just got penalized in the mobile organic search results.
Maybe you're thinking, "big deal, how many people could possibly be visiting my website using a mobile device?"
The number of monthly visits from mobile devices is actually a lot higher than many contractors realize. Depending on the specific industry -- home improvement vs. remodeling vs. HVAC/Plumbing -- it ranges anywhere from 20-35%.
Maybe you've assumed that your web guy/gal has this under control?
Now would be a good time to test your site.
If it looks like this, you've got a problem:
If your site comes up "Not mobile-friendly", the time to act is now (well, the time to act was yesterday, but now will have to do).
