My name is Andrew Broyles from Virginia Beach, Va. I am 59 years old and started as a framer's helper in the summer of 1972. 5 years later I was in business for myself as a custom home framer and continued with that niche until I branched out to custom building and remodeling.
My business exploded as a remodeler in the early 90s and I was recognized by Professional Remodeling Magazine as a candidate for Remodel Of The Year. I have also built in the local Homearama, honored with 28 Remodeling Excellence Awards and even had a TV show in the early 90s on HGTV named Virginia Home And Garden that was local programming before HGTV caught on. In 2004 I restructured my business to be strictly "shell" building where the owner completes the interior as their own GC or hires me to finish things up.
I was only kidding when i posted as someone who wants to be nominated but my story is not unique but it does show that a long hair framing kid with a lot of energy can grow up and be successful and still have that fire to work his ass off at nearly 60 and still eager to learn anything I can about building.
